Where dreams begin, imagination is inspired & artistry unfolds…
Bundaberg Academy of the Arts (BA ARTS) is committed to providing quality tuition, whether it is for fun, performance, competition, exams, fitness or career opportunities.
BA ARTS specialises in singing and performance, developing a child's voice through their changes and transitions into adulthood. Classes are designed to immerse students in vocal performance study, teaching correct age appropriate vocal techniques for varied genres, musicianship and performance delivery. Classes include group and solo choreography, in addition to drama and staging skills, to provide students with the ability to confidently deliver artistic, theatrical and creative audience engaging stage performances.
In an environment which encourages confidence, friendship and rewards personal achievement and teamwork, we provide a well-balanced whole ARTS experience.
Our new Performance Groups backed by a team of management members from BVA INC., provide professional performance and career opportunities to performing arts students.
A formal class for students who wish to become more serious about their singing and expand their theory, musicianship and technical vocal skills.
Students learn both fundamental and advanced vocal techniques as they progress through the levels. Students can be prepared for their AMEB Rockschool Vocal examinations (not forced to take them if they are not ready of course) as well as individual and group performances. A limit of 4-6 applicants will be considered in these classes only. Smaller groups, mean more one on one attention for students to grow. Students wanting to attend technique classes must show initiative, effort & dedication toward their vocal study.
GLEE CLUB is BA ARTS contemporary Performing Arts programme that explores pop, rock and musical theatre vocal arrangements. It is specifically designed for children aged 8 years through to Adults, providing an exciting mix of vocal tuition and stage performance skill sets.
Each class is divided into sessions of warm up’s, skill work (activities to develop their singing voice & stage choreography) and repertoire rehearsal.
GLEE CLUB unlocks the confidence to share and develop natural performance, along with many other positive life skills. Class levels have been designed to allow students to work with others around their age group with similar skills and experience. Students whose abilities are developing more quickly may move up through the levels as their skills and confidence increase.
Each person is different, which is why our experienced Principal and Voice Coach, Kara James, can create individual tuition for everyone she teaches. Regardless of what your area of interest may be, Kara will be looking after you the whole way, gently guiding you through the skills that are relevant for the styles or genre you appreciate the most.
SING Classes are 'informal' singing classes with the ‘FUN FACTOR’ embedded. This is a class for students who want to learn the basic fundamentals of singing, develop confidence and gain some performance opportunities while having fun singing as a group.
Let’s SING & DANCE classes are BA ARTS pre-school & early learning performing ARTS classes specially designed for 3-5 year olds & school aged 5-7 year olds.
Mums and Dads do not attend this class. Children learn to independently explore the incredible world of the performing arts through singing, fundamental music & movement skills (stepping in time, jumping, hopping, skipping, twirling, and moving in lines and formations), story time, speech and drama play, imagination-building, costume, puppet and prop play activities.
Please note: Let’s SING & DANCE is not a ‘disciplined’ or ‘competitive’ dance program such as ballet, jazz or tap and we do recommend that you contact one of our many incredible local dance schools if you are seeking a disciplined dance class. Let’s SING & DANCE simply labels the Singing and Rhythmic body movements to music used in our program, to express an idea or emotion in performance.
Let’s SING & DANCE is a WHOLE ARTS experience based on sequences of movements of the physical body which helps instil new musical concepts, connecting right-left brain linkage. Rhythm Sense is certainly an important criteria for singing and performance, and is one of the most basic training factors, together with pitching and stage work skills at BA ARTS, that decide whether students sing and perform well or not. We allow students to learn with as many senses as possible, including patterns of rhythmic and expressive movements to feel and express the groove as a vocalist and stage performer. These benefits happen to also connect many other cross-curricular activities.

All Classes are provided with several performance opportunities throughout the year and culminate in one large professional annual showcase performance at the end of each year. Participants of BA ARTS are professionally photographed and recorded throughout the year, giving them quality contributions to add to their performance bio. This is particularly helpful to those who wish to see how far they have come over the years and who also want to make a career out of the performing arts.
